Masquerade!

Masquerade!
Paper faces on parade.
Masquerade!
Hide your face, so the world will never find you!
Masquerade!
Every face a different shade.
Masquerade!
Look around -
there's another
mask behind you!
(from 'Masquerade' - The Phantom of the Opera)

As soon as Star Fairymeadow sent out her notecard to the Wretched Dollies group, inviting us all to a masquerade at Club Lucidity, I knew I wanted to go as Death.

Red Death, as per Edgar Allan Poe. However, I put my modern, feminine spin on it, making myself beautiful, rather than grotesque, and adding 'seduction' to the arsenal of the plague I represented.

Evie's Closet provided just the dress I was looking for: Melusine in Red.
This dress is... jaw-droppingly stunning. From the detail on clothing and attachments, to the scale of the dress, to the vibrancy of the reds and oranges used to colour it... everything about this dress shrieks 'glamour', 'beauty', and 'sexy as hell'.

Evie's Closet also makes a Melusine Veil, to match their Melusine White dress, in the bridal store. When I originally purchased the veil, I did so specifically because it said it was 'mod', and I wanted to change the colour to match my dress. Imagine my dismay when I was unable to edit the colour! So, I wrote a notecard to Evangeline, the owner of Evie's Closet, and figured I wouldn't be able to wear the veil for my costume, as the party was the next day.

Evie was FANTASTIC in her customer service. She responded immediately, refunded my purchase, sent me a gift card, AND sent me a modifiable veil. You can see the awesomeness of it in the picture below.

Evie, just a thank-you for your amazing customer service. You went out of your way not only to respond, but to re-do the item for me, and to reimburse my purchase, and give a gift card. That is above and beyond regular 'customer service'... and I applaud you for caring so much for your clients. Thank you.

This is the mask that I chose to represent the seductive side of death. It's 248 prims- more primmy than my house! However, each prim is so worth it. Look at the detail, the beading, the gorgeous jewellery hanging off of it. This was obviously lovingly made- another success by Azriel Demain. I didn't have to resize, or move it- I just put it on and went to rock the party.

Here's me at Club Lucidity, winning the costume contest! Yup, I won, for best formal woman!

Celebration of Darkness

About six months ago, I spotted on another blog, this gorgeous dark creation by Evie's Closet. I wanted it. I just knew that I had no real occassion to wear it.

Yesterday, I figured, screw it.

This dress fit like a glove. I hardly had to edit the ruffles around the neck, to fit my chest. The skirt and train I didn't have to edit at all. This lack of editing is something I've found often, with Evie's clothes. She makes dresses that don't need much work... they're buy-and-wear.

You can't see it well in this photo, but the dress isn't all black. Underneath the gauzy black layers of the dress is a blood-red satin layer. As this dress moves, you catch glimpses of the red, and it is just a gorgeous effect.

"The Queen of Drow"
This particular crown is something I bought ages ago, when I was deep in my drow phase, and yet, I never wore it. I don't think I had a hair that could support it without it looking ridiculous... but I held onto it by sheer love of the design. Powerful, dark, dangerous, this crown embodies a confidence that any Drow Queen would not only HAVE, but would NEED to have, to rule such a backstabbing bunch.

Here you can see the colours of the dress. Aren't they absolutely stunning?

I don't know quite what it is about Evies Closet... I always feel beautiful in the clothes that I purchase from that store. Always. Their customer service is fantastic, the store is beautiful, and the clothes... just wow.

Pumpkin Lace

Welcome,
to the
Madhouse

I have the intro to Rihanna's CD stuck in my head. In case you hadn't noticed. Anyway, welcome to black and orange, in honour of Hallowe'en. I knew I wanted to feature something a little on the sexier side today, so I rummaged through my Alphamale & Blacklace folder in my inventory, and found this little number. Pair it with a gold-based skin, some killer streakable hair, and another pair of my addiction-driven boots, and voila, sexy gothy lingerie.

Let's break it down, shall we?

This is another Dream Ink skin... it's from the same skin pack that I bought (Rachel), but it's got a gold/copper tone in the eyemakeup, and a slightly orange-tinted lip. It is the perfect accent to my lingerie. The hair is another by Truth, called Lanie, and is streakable.
What I love about Alphamale & Blacklace, is that they're festive. They pay attention to detail and they make sexy-as-hell garments... but what makes me shop there, is that they like to celebrate holidays through their lingerie. This sweet set is a limited edition Hallowe'en look. I recommend getting it before it's gone.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Yes.
More Malfean Vision boots. I couldn't help it! I tried on every other brand of boots with this lingerie, and it just wasn't right. As soon as I tped into MV, there they were. I had to have them. Aren't they pwetttty?!?!

Gah. Gorgeous.

Red Witch

How do I create a look?

Well, usually I'll find one element that I just fricking love, and I'll build from there. Today's thing was yesterday's hair, now in "night" colour.

Yup, this is a new incarnation of "Jackie" by Truth, tipped red. It brought out a witchy gothy sort of feeling, so I dug through my inventory and found this stellar dress by Rotten Toe. Now, I love Rotten Toe. Their stuff is gothy, pretty, sexy, edgy.... they're just such wonderful things to wear, and they always make me feel great.
Rotten Toe made this dress in four versions that anyone can buy, and then two special versions that only group members can purchase, with tag activated. This is one such dress- "Love Prison" dress, in {Black}. The skirt comes scripted for resizing, and also another version unscripted. I have to say that RT's dresses always fit well. My avvie has a rather large butt, and RT's dresses resize well, to be proportionate, yet cover my tush. Well done!
Ahhhhh the boots. *sighs happily* These are yet another pair of kickass boots by Malfean Visions. These are called "Admirals Stilettos - Vitae"... life... blood... blood red. Sexy, fricking gorgeous.
The skin is something I picked up recently- it's by Dream Ink. If you didn't know they made skins, go look. They're all edgy, sexy, full of attitude and colour, and just beautiful. I had to have it. I bought the skin pack, actually.

Finally, the background to my shoots is by Victoria Frances, a noted Vampire and Dark Gothic artist. I've tinted the image red, to match the mood of the outfit, but if you don't know who Victoria Frances is, go check her out. She's super-gifted.

Think Pink!

I'm not quite sure what this particular look was inspired by, except that I had a real hankering to wear pink. It took me about an hour and a half of picking through my inventory to find the right shade... and then it all sort of came together.

This dress is an old-school Katat0nik creation. I remember when I first joined SL, and I was scoping out freebies and cheapies, I stumbled into Katat0nik quite by accident, and saw this, the Rina dress (red). It's not red, it's more a super-vibrant pink, but that's what it's called. And only $25L. You can still get it there, for $25L... as well as a bunch more cute dresses at the front of the store, also on for $25L, right now. I highly recommend, if you like the dollie look.

My fabu boots are one of my current SL lusts- "Admiral's Crate" by .:.::Malfean Visions::.:. God, these are hot. Skulls at the laces, heel, and bottom of the stiletto, beautiful detail work, and they come in a boatload of colours... of which I own about 8. They're feminine yet bad-ass... chunky, yet sleek, and I feel just sexy as hell when I wear them.

My cute tipped hair is a new creation by Truth - it's called "Jackie" and I'm wearing the 'ivory' colour. The hair is scripted, so that you can colour the tips and the hairband separately. I wasn't looking for hair when I set out to do this photo set, but I stumbled on this, and had to have it. $250L per colour pack.

My Skin is by Heartsick. This was a prize in the Think Pink hunt- it's the "Illusion" skintone, and it's called "Pretty in Pink". I had a bit of difficulty with this skin, in that the lips are not very defined... but then as I saw how the photos turned out, I decided I rather didn't care. I love it, when the rest of the image is softened.

My eyes were also a hunt prize, acquired in the "Dolly" hunt, a few months ago. They're by Rozena Skins, and are called "Dolly Eye - French Pink". Once again, the killer lashes are Redgrave's DiamondDust.

This whole photo series was fun... I'm not a 'pink' kinda gal, but when I started finding all of these knickknacks in my inventory, it just came together!

Casui-Glam

Something like "Casual Glam".

Now, something you must know about me- I am anti-ponytail. I don't wear them in RL, I have NEVER worn one in SL. I tend to think they're unattractive on me. I can never quite pull them off.

Until Truth came out with 'Tara'. This ponytail is high, a la "I dream of Genie", it's full, it's got great movement, and I can streak it and change the elastic to match my outfit. *Heaven*!!

The fabu top is by Zaara- "Naina distressed shrug". Slightly distressed. Slightly sexy as hell, too. Nips showing, and yet covered, and it seemed a gorgeous extension of my collar.

The skirt portion of this outfit is the lower half of Miamai's "Analise" gown. This gown comes in two flexi prim layers- the movement is gorgeous, as you can see.

The whole outfit is completed by a pair of :)(: Pixelfashion boots (not pictured).

I feel sexy in this... it's revealing, yet glamorous, and I somehow still feel casual in it... like I could wander around barefoot, and not feel amiss.

"I'll Kill You Gently"

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm an avid fan of Vita's Boudoir. I tend to think that the dresses sold there are fashion-forward, innovative, and generally 'different' than what you'll see elsewhere. It's a rarity that I see a Boudoir dress that I don't immediately know is a Boudoir dress, simply by the style.

This little number is one such gem.

"I'll Kill You Gently" (which immediately makes me think of "Killing you softly", the song), is the most recent release by Vita's Boudoir, just in time for Hallowe'en. The bodice and gloves are leather straps, the underthings are nonexistent, except for some fishnet stockings, and the skirt is a fabulous poof of black roses, tulle, and bloodied edges.

The boots are "Devil Boots" from :)(: Pixelfashion. Note the bony hand which acts as the stiletto heel.

Finally, my collar finishes this look off- custom made by Damian Twist. Contact him in world if you'd like a custom-built collar, home, or some wonderful photography.

Blank Pages

It's not often that I sit at a screen, staring at a blinking cursor, and not knowing how to fill the pages. Given that this is my very first forray into anything resembling public blogging, I'm slightly nervous. So, I'll begin by telling y'all (my non-existent following) a bit about me.

I've been in Second Life since February of 2009, and in that time have tried just about every fashion style I've come across- gothic, steampunk, dollie, techno, 80's, casual, ripped 'n torn, Victorian, Japanese, wild and crazy, Indian, flamboyant, dark, bright, etc etc etc. It goes on.

Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved fashion. I used to design clothes for my paper dolls. I used to design clothes for my barbies. Then I just started flat-out designing clothes. Fate was cruel, in giving me the RL rubenesque shape I've got... I don't get to try on all the things I'd like to... but then She smiled on me by giving me a skinny friend, who happily let me dress her up. Now, I have SL. I have a body that is "mine" that can wear just about anything. I have a camera and photo software that allows me to build my budding business as a photographer. I get to play with clothes and shoes and hair and makeup as much as I like. Thank you, Linden Labs, for letting this girl pick up her paper dolls again.

Every day, I try to rock a different look... why? For something different, to get that "you look lovely" from my Love, so that I can justify the sinful amount of shopping that I do... you name it. And I figured that, if I love fashion this much, why the heck aren't I sharing that love of my favourite designers, with the rest of you!?

So this blog will be just that- my sharing what I love, with whomever would like to read about it. I'll attach photos, I'll talk about freebies and killer hunt items, I'll name designers and give y'all links to their stores... I will provide you with a glimpse into my usually odd sense of fashion... and I'll try not to bore you to death.

My first post will be tonight, once I get home from work. Right now in world, my avvie is rocking something gorgeous by Vita's Boudoir, with a pair of :)(: Pixelfashion boots. Nummeh.

See y'all soon!
